ABOUT

At The Bear, we serve honest home cooking – we make the kind of food we want to eat.

Our menu reflects what our pub is about. We serve up generous portions of fresh, traditional dishes served in surroundings only a real pub can offer. Here’s our current menu.

The Freshest Local Produce

We use as many local suppliers as possible showing off the best of Somerset’s produce. Such as: Tim Potters butchers, Wellington, The Larder, Wiveliscombe, Thornes Butchers, Wiveliscombe, Heal Farm Meats, South Molton, Gundenham Dairy, Wellington, Tracebridge Fermenteria, Frank’s Fish, and Ray’s Veg.

Cask Ales

We are extremely proud of our Good Beer Guide entry. Our real ale selection is constantly changing alongside our regular offerings of Otter Bitter and our own Black Bear products. Come and try this week’s selection of local ales and craft products from around the South West and further afield.

Stunning Location

We’re in Wiveliscombe, on the edge of Exmoor, a perfect stop for ramblers and outdoor sports people too. We’re also surrounded by the stunning scenery of the Quantocks and the Blackdown Hills. Wiveliscombe has a vibrant and thriving working community – we’re proud to be called their ‘local.’
